It works best if you have two new batteries at the same time, as the older battery will wear down the newer battery. Make sure you don't hook them in series though.

Battery tender jr is only a few dollars more… $20-$25 all over the internet. I use the Jr. for charging my vex and gps batteries and it’s been awesome for about 5 years now. X2. It is all I use for any ice sonar charging.

Just be careful not to overcharge the batteries and be sure the batteries are large enough to handle the amperage output from the generator. Another way to charge is to plug a standard 110 battery charger into the 110 circuit on the generator.
